Shaped from memory and material, this Azuma bag belongs to a small capsule created for a publishing event in London. Each one formed from a different reclaimed textile, no two alike.
Rooted in the everyday beauty of Edo-period Japan, the Azuma bag was once a simple fold used by labourers to carry their meals. Here, it is reimagined with hand-dyed cotton, dyed using turmeric and weld. An ancient native plant used for generations to produce vibrant yellows. Finished with a base lining of raw cotton canvas for added structure and support.
Made slowly, made one of a kind.
(Please note that because of the natural dyes used in this product, colours may shift and change over time. So the item changes with you as you love it more.)
